Summary: In an age of auto-correct, spelling is as important as ever for ELLs hoping to enter a university, improve job prospects, or refine everyday communication skills. This workshop shares spelling games that heighten student awareness, facilitate collaborative problem-solving, and promote enthusiasm for vocabulary development.

Biography: Audra Lord is the Academic Director of ALPS Language School in Seattle and an Associate Instructor at Columbia University's Summer IEP. She holds a Master of Arts in Linguistics-TESOL and a TESL Certificate from Oakland University (Rochester, MI). Audra has taught English in Wellington, New Zealand, Ayutthaya, Thailand and the United States. Research and teaching interests include collaborative writing, community based learning, and devising film and theatre projects in the ESL classroom.
